Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment to Digital Inclusion
The School District of La Crosse is committed to providing a fully accessible digital experience for all students, parents, staff, and community members, including individuals with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to our educational resources, district information, programs, and online activities.
Accessibility Standards
To uphold this commitment and comply with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we are actively updating our digital platforms to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These internationally recognized guidelines ensure that web content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers and keyboard navigation.
Our Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is not a one-time project, but an ongoing commitment. To ensure we meet and maintain these standards, our district is taking the following steps:
-
Auditing and Remediation: Conducting regular, comprehensive scans of our website and digital documents (such as PDFs and forms) to identify and fix accessibility barriers.
-
Staff Training: Providing ongoing training to our educators, administrators, and web content creators on accessible design principles and inclusive digital communications.
-
Third-Party Compliance: Working with our software vendors and platform providers to ensure that learning management systems, parent portals, and mobile applications meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Archived and Legacy Content
While we strive to make all pages and documents accessible, some older, archived documents (created prior to April 24, 2026) that are retained purely for reference may not yet meet current standards. If you need access to an archived document or a specific legacy file, we will gladly provide it in an alternative, accessible format upon request.
How to Report an Issue or Request Assistance
We welcome your feedback. If you encounter any barriers while navigating our site, have difficulty accessing a specific document, or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us immediately. We will make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the information you need in a format that works for you.
