Mr. Michael Esser

Mike Esser is in his 38th year of teaching and his 30th year at Central High School in La Crosse, WI where he conducts The Select Robed Choir and the Upper Treble Chorus. Mr. Esser received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He has done further study at the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa, Northern Arizona University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Esser’s choirs have been invited to perform at various college choral festivals in the Midwest, Iowa Public Television, the State and Regional Music Educators Conventions, and the State and Regional American Choral Director’s Conventions. His voice students consistently place in the finals at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Fall Competition and his soloists have performed at various vocal festivals. Under his previous direction, the Grand Central Station Show Choir was selected Grand Champion in many competitions and was awarded several vocal, band, and choreography awards. Also, the select concert choir from Central has received numerous 1st place awards in concert choir competitions held in the upper Midwest region.

Mr. Esser will be retiring from CHS at the end of the 20-21 school year.
