NEWS FROM THE FUTURE CENTER:
Manufacturing Day: Students will be touring four La Crosse Manufacturing Plants including WalzCraft, Agropur, DuraTech, & Advanced Fiber Products on April 2nd. Lunch will be provided. Registration & Permission Slip required. Sign up in the Future Center.
Women in Trades Event will take place March 7th from 9:00 -2:00. The event gives high school girls an opportunity to experience the trades with hands-on experience in Welding, CNC, Mechanical Design & Construction. Lunch is provided. Registration is required.
Pathways to a Healthcare Career is April 11th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Open to grades 7-12. Registration is required.
Future Center Fair: March 17th in the Sutton Gym from 10:00 – 1:00 PM. Students will have the opportunity to engage with professionals across the board and learn about careers, positions available and how to prepare now for their future.
Any students interested in Teaching: The UW-La Crosse School of Education is hosting an interactive day on Friday, April 3rd from 8:00 – 12:00 PM. Students must register and have their own transportation. See Hayley in the Future Center with questions.
The Future Center will be visiting UW-Eau Claire on Monday, March 9th. This will include an admissions presentation, tour, lunch and conversations with Alumni. Pick up a permission slip and get your name on the sign-up sheet in the Future Center.
Mayo Health System is holding a Healthcare Series that provides students with opportunities to learn through presentation, simulation, and hands on activities. Registration is required.
The Auto & Heavy Equipment Experience will be held April 16th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Registration is required.
Health Careers Camps are held in late June. The application is due March 31st and requires a personal statement and two teacher references. Participants must be 16 years or older at the time of the camp.
NEWS FROM STUDENT SERVICES:
The American Legion Americanism & Government Scholarship Test will be offered at Central on March 11th & 12th. The test consists of 50 multiple choice and true-false questions and one essay question. It covers topics of U.S. Citizenship, the U.S. Constitution, State & Federal Government & U.S. Flag Etiquette. Students interested need to sign up in Student Services TODAY.
A representative from the World Heritage Student Exchange Program will be here Wednesday, March 18th at 2:35 PM in Room 232. Stop in to learn about studying abroad or to get information about hosting an exchange student for the 2020-2021 school year.
Seniors who are attending WTC or another Technical College next year: The Accuplacer is being administered at Central on Thursday, March 19th at 8:00 AM in Room 232. The cost is $25. This is a placement exam for students attending Technical Colleges. Sign up in Student Services by Monday, March 16th. Any questions see your counselor or Mac Kiel.
A representative from WTC visits Central every 2 weeks. If you are interested in going to Western or want to learn more about opportunities at the school, stop in Student Services and sign up for an appointment.
