LA CROSSE, Wis., (July 6, 2026) - Trane Technologies, a global climate innovator, today announced it is donating approximately 41.5 acres on Pammel Creek Road to the School District of La Crosse for future educational use.

The property includes the Reuben Trane Building, which opened in 1967 and previously served as the headquarters of both The Trane Company and the Trane Commercial Systems group.

“Trane Technologies is deeply invested in the success and well-being of the La Crosse community,” said Tom Gallant, Vice President, Engineering & Technology, Trane Technologies. “This donation is a way for us to support local students, educators and families while contributing to the community in which so many of our employees live and work. We’re pleased to provide the district with a resource ahead of the new school year that can help advance its educational mission for future generations.”

“We are deeply grateful to Trane Technologies for this extraordinary gift to our school district and community," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aaron Engel. "This level of generosity reflects a strong belief in public education and in the students and staff who make up the School District of La Crosse. We do not take that trust lightly. This property gives us a unique opportunity to grow learning spaces, support our staff, and strengthen connections across our community. We look forward to shaping this space thoughtfully and using it in ways that serve students today and for generations to come.”

The School District of La Crosse plans to use the donated property to expand opportunities for students, staff and the community. Early plans include athletic fields, outdoor activity areas and professional development spaces to support staff learning and growth. The site may also house offices for district departments, including School Nutrition and Buildings and Grounds.

As planning continues, the district will explore additional uses that support student learning, staff collaboration and community connection. More detailed plans for the site will be shared by the district in the coming months.
