2017-2018 FOOTBALL RECAPS
8TH GRADE -V- SPARTA: On 9/26/17 the Cougars took on Sparta for their first game of the year. At times the offense could really move the ball through the air, highlighted by a 70 yard throw and run to Quinn Servais to end the first half. Ja’tay McKinney also ran back a kickoff to add to the total. The team is lucky to have 2 quarterbacks and multiple receivers and running backs to run the show this year. Defense really stepped up in the second half and showed potential for the remainder of the season. Next game is Tuesday. Be ready!!
7TH GRADE -V- WINONA: Go Lincoln Cougar football team they played hard against Winona Middle School on 10/3/17. Daniel played hard and recovered a fumble, Jenna did a good job tackling and blocking Malachi also did a good job tackling and breaking through the line. Cornell stepped in as quarter back and ran the ball to score a touchdown. Keep up the good work cougars Our next game is Monday against the Longfellow Trojans.
8TH GRADE -V- WEST SALEM: On 10/3/17 the 8th grade Cougar football team took on the Panthers of West Salem. Both sides of the ball showed glimpses of proficiency, with the defense stepping up big in the second half. Unfortunately, the offense didn’t put up enough to win. Karsten Fuchs found a rhythm in the second half as he moved the Cougars down the field a few times with sharp passes to our receivers. Lucas Anderegg and Gerpriest Phillips showed some much needed aggressiveness on the defensive side of the ball that will hopefully carry over to Onalaska next Thursday!
8TH GRADE -V- ONALASKA: The cougar team went to Onalaska to play the Hilltoppers Thursday. It turned into an offensive shootout as the 8th grade team ran up 30 points. Big plays were all over the field as Devon fielding, Quinn Servais, Adam Olson and Noah Campan all helped move the ball behind a progressing offfensive line. The defense still has some work to do, but we are light years ahead of the season’s start. Proud of this group.
