LA CROSSE, Wis., (July 13, 2020) – Over the last four months, COVID-19 and how it affects our schools and students has never left our minds. We have been working on plans to reopen schools since we were initially closed in March. We know this topic has been at the forefront of your thoughts as well. We are aware that reopening school buildings during this pandemic can be both a source of anxiety and a sense of relief.

To produce quality plans that meet health and safety guidelines, we have been waiting on guidance from the State Department of Health Services, The Department of Public Instruction, and the La Crosse County Health Department. We are working closely with La Crosse County and other local school districts to ensure our plans meet County guidelines for health and safety.

Please understand that the current plan is a general one and a work in progress. We have been diligently working on further details and will be releasing those as they are developed. We appreciate your input so do not hesitate to send us questions and comments so that we can meet your needs as we prepare to reopen buildings. Conditions are continually changing so please also understand that this plan will be modified and adjusted to maintain health and safety.

Our goal is to safely provide the best possible education for our students. Thank you for your understanding in these difficult times.

Aaron J. J. Engel, Ph.D.
