January

During large group our themes of study will be winter, peace (Martin Luther King, Jr.) and Global Kids.

The students will continue to work hard on their academics during tutoring session (3:45-4:25).  Some students may work on homework or on academics that they need additional support with (reading, math, writing).

Crazy 8s is a FREE hands-on math club that will sure get your child excited about learning math!  Mrs. Misch will be leading the K-2nd graders on Tuesday or Thursday (TBD) and Mrs. Beran will be leading the 3rd-5th graders on Wednesday!

Many pictures will be posted soon as we will begin this club the week of October 22nd!

What is Crazy 8s?

It is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities!  Students will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes and play games like Toilet Paper Olympics!

The club has 32 weeks of activities organized into four 8-week seasons.

The kits are available for grades K-2nd and 3rd-5th.

12-16 students who are already in After School Program will join each grade section (K-2nd and 3rd-5th)

We are grateful to have Mrs. Mary from UW-Extension come and teach cooking to the Kindergarteners through 2nd graders every Tuesday till November 20th!

The students will learn how to make healthy foods that they can eat for lunch, dinner, or as a snack.  After preparing the food, they will get to enjoy it!

Be sure to check your child’s backpack every Tuesday as they may have a new recipe!  Ask your child if they even cooked the recipe as well!

*Second semester the older students (3rd-5th graders) will have a chance to cook with Mrs. Mary!

We want to thank Mrs. Mary and UW-Extensions for providing their time and services to North Woods After School Program!

Applause Dance Academy

We have been beyond grateful to have had Applause Dance come to North Woods to teach THREE lessons to both the upper and lower grades!  The students truly enjoyed learning new dance moves, practiced some they already knew, and taught some to Miss. Kate.  We will continue to incorporate dancing and movement throughout the year.

On September 28th, 15 ASP students began swimming lessons at the Onalaska Y through a free grant provided by the Y.
The 15 students that were chosen to go returned their After School Program permission slips first.

All students must bring their own SUIT and Towel on the following Fridays!
