Summer School Employment Application
The School District of La Crosse employs hundreds of exemplary educators to teach in our summer school programs. All teachers are encouraged to apply.
Criteria for Selecting Summer School Staff
(Each listed in priority order of consideration)
Teacher Selection Priority*
District teachers with appropriate certification currently teaching at that grade level. (Elem, MS, HS)
A teacher now in the system with appropriate certification for the position.
A district employee who is appropriately certified with experience in the district at the grade level. (Elem, MS, HS)
A current district substitute teacher who is appropriately certified with experience at the grade level. (Elem, MS, HS)
A teacher from outside the district having appropriate certification.
Summer School Teacher Assistants Priority
A district teacher assistant with appropriate certification currently assisting in that grade level. (Elem, MS, HS)
A teacher assistant from within the district with appropriate certification for the position.
An employee of the district who is presently not a teacher assistant but does have appropriate teaching assistant certification.
A current district substitute teacher assistant that has appropriate teaching assistant certification.
A teacher assistant from outside the district having appropriate certification.
* Enrichment classes may be exempted from these guidelines. The original creator of an enrichment class will be given first priority.
Please note: Separate applications need to be submitted for each category of employment (teacher, teacher assistant, secretary). For example, those interested in applying to be a teacher assistant and a secretary, will need to complete two separate applications.
**For those of you who are NOT a current district employee and are NOT a current district substitute and you did NOT work during the 2017 summer school program: If you are OFFERED A POSITION, there are several requirements you will need to fulfill before you can begin working in the summer school program.
