Summit Environmental School 1800 Lakeshore Drive La Crosse WI 54601
I am so honored to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year!
I am pleased that Summit Environmental School’s garden, forest and green spaces are meeting the basic natural ESSENTIAL NEEDS of young learners. I believe we embrace ideals of Friedrich Froebel–1782-1852:
Froebel was Known as the “Father of Kindergarten”
* Believed that a child’s first educational experience should be like a garden full of discoveries and adventure.
* Believed that the adults should set the stage and that children should use materials in their own manner (freely playing).
The first kindergarten opened in 1816 at Griesheim in Thuringia (now Germany).
Welcome to Summit KINDERGARTEN 2021-22
Something about me: I am a Minnesota native, having grown up in the (then rural) areas south of Mpls/St.Paul! I received my Early Childhood (EC)Pre-K, K, Science Elementary Teaching Degree at Concordia College–St.Paul, MN.
I received my Masters Degree at UW-L 10 years ago, while teaching with our awesome E.C Kindergarten team here at Summit.
I have been teaching for 39 years in the La Crosse area, and have lived in the rural Galesville/Melrose community, for the past 27 years with my family of 4.
Hello everyone! I am Johnnyray Wildt (Mrs. Wildt), the new art teacher at Summit Environmental Elementary and Coulee Montessori at Northside Elementary School. A little about me, I graduated from Viterbo in May of 2016, and served as an art teacher at Bangor Elementary for four years. I am excited to start my fifth year of teaching at both Summit and Northside Elementary! I teach with the philosophy based on TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). This philosophy “regards students as artists and offers them real choices for responding to their own ideas and interests through the making of art.” (TAB website). Students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of art mediums through centers such as: drawing, painting fiber, printmaking, sculpture and more! Students will also have what is referred to “have-to” projects that focus on specific techniques, materials, concepts, themes, and/or artists. I hope you will be just as amazed as I am at the creativity and skills that each child possesses! I actually have two children of my own, Ezra, my two year old son, and a four month old daughter named Sawyer Mae, so you can say I am keeping pretty busy these days. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and joining the district! Johnnyray Wildt email@example.com
Hi, I’m DeeDee Bradshaw. I’m the Elementary General Music teacher here at Summit and at Coulee Montessori. This is my 3rd year teaching, and I have been loving every minute. I was born and raised in Chicago, but I recently moved to La Crosse with my fiancé and our dogs. I graduated from Luther College with a degree in music education and a minor in French in 2018. I love playing with the dogs, hiking, everything pumpkin spice, playing ukulele, and crafting.
