Welcome to the Library Learning Commons

State Road Elementary would like to welcome you to our Library Media Center.  Our media center offers a collection of over 17,000 materials available for checkout. These materials include books, audio books, videos, magazines, reference sources, and leveled book sets.

Following the School District of La Crosse library media skills curriculum, we offer a flexible schedule that encourages the development and the implementation of reading enrichment, information technology skills, and technology integration.  Students may come to the library media center at any time to checkout or return books, read in small groups, use reference materials, or work on homework.  Classrooms may also come to the media center to hear stories, work on research projects, or for checkout.

A Parent Resource collection is also located in the media center.  Books, audio cassettes, videos, and magazines on parenting issues are available for parent and guardian checkout.

It is our hope that your child will enjoy coming to the Media Center. If we can be of assistance to you, please feel free to contact us at 608-789-7690.

Circulation Policy:

Students are encouraged to check out materials as often as they wish. We have open checkout time in the morning, at noon, and at the end of the day. Preschool students may checkout up to two books at a time; Kindergarten through 3rd grade may checkout up to three books at a time; and 4th and 5th graders may have up to five books at a time. These materials are checked out for a two week period. If a student wishes to have the materials longer, they may renew them. Students who have overdue items may not check out additional materials until the overdue materials are returned. If library materials are lost or damaged, the student is responsible for the cost of replacement. Library privileges will be suspended until materials are paid for or replaced. There are no fines for overdue materials.
