Welcome to first grade! My name is Laurie Fried and I’ve been a classroom teacher at Southern Bluffs for 18 years. I’m looking forward to spending time with your child, learning his or her interests, and having a great year.  Our first-grade classroom is a busy place where students focus on growing as readers, practice being respectful, responsible, and safe, and begin to show more independence as learners.

On a personal note, I have 2 children, Sierra and Bennett.  Sierra is in her last year at Southern Bluffs, and Bennett is a 7th grader at Longfellow Middle School.  My husband, Barry, is the Athletics Director at Viterbo University.  We enjoy watching the Badgers and Packers, attending our children’s sporting events, and traveling to new places.

Feel free to contact me with questions, comments, or concerns at 789-7020, by email at lfried@lacrossesd.org or you can leave a note on your child’s Daily Sheet that will be sent home in your child’s Bee Binder/home folder.  If there is an issue that needs to be addressed before the end of the day, such as a change in your child’s after-school transportation, please call the office so I’ll get the message in time.
