MATT KITZEROW, PRINCIPAL
Hello Longellow Families,
With great excitement, I am entering my first year as principal of Longfellow/LDI Middle School. I want to thank all of our families for the kind and welcoming words I have already received. I look forward to establishing a positive working relationship with all of our families to support the learning and growth of each and every student at Longfellow/LDI. We truly need and appreciate your support of your Longfellow/LDI student. As many of our families already know, I taught for 6 years at Longfellow. This is a school that is very special to me and which I invested a great deal of time and emotion as a teacher and as a coach. I am very fortunate to have this opportunity to serve our southside community in the principal role.
I grew up in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, in Milwaukee County but fell in love with the Coulee region when I attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. I completed my undergrad with majors in Physical and Health Education. I moved back to the Milwaukee area to teach my first year after college but jumped at the opportunity to come back to La Crosse. I have taught at Lincoln Middle School, Logan High School, and Longfellow Middle School. I see my years of teaching health education as a great asset of mine, being able to understand and support students as a whole child. Physical, social, and emotional wellness is vital to our student’s academic success. Most recently, I served as the Dean of Students at Logan Middle School and completed my principalship licensure certification at Viterbo University. My wife and I reside in the city of La Crosse and care deeply about our community. Please do not hesitate to reach out at anytime as we team up to support your Longfellow student. We are going to have an awesome school year.
