Intradistrict Transfers
One of the strengths of the School District of La Crosse is the variety of opportunities and choices offered to families, especially when it comes to school choice. Each home address within the district boundaries has pre-determined neighborhood schools that students may attend. Enrollment is guaranteed at your neighborhood school.
In addition to our neighborhood schools, the School District of La Crosse offers a variety of charter and choice schools that offer new and different learning environments. Parents may use our Intradistrict Application to request a transfer to a different school within our district.
Application Window: Parents interested in requesting a transfer to a different school in the district must complete an Intradistrict Application between February 1st – April 30th for the following school year.
What is a charter school? Charter schools are public, nonsectarian schools created through a business-like contract or “charter” between the charter governance board and the sponsoring school board or other chartering authority.
What is a choice school? Choice schools include students from the boundary attendance area as well as students that choose to attend through the choice and charter process. These schools deliver curriculum using a thematic approach or have a unique calendar.
What is a boundary school? Boundary schools are based on your home address within the School District of La Crosse. Please contact Michelle Wozney at 608.789.7651or mwozney@lacrossesd.org to inquire about what your boundary school is.
